Det nye destilleri som stærk lokal aktør og arkitektonisk markør i det vestjyske

Stauning Whisky udvider produktionen og opfører nye bygninger i Stauning, hvor arkitekturen og de nye bygninger bliver en oplevelse og et besøg værd.

Det bliver absolut et destilleri der både udvendigt og indvendigt ikke er set magen til i whiskyverdenen. Bare tanken om at se 24 pot stills i det store destillationsrum bliver fantastisk.

Der opføres 5 nye bygninger henover 2017/2018. I alt godt 4000 m² produktionsbygninger.

Planen er med tiden at videreudbygge med lagerfunktioner, ud fra samme arkitektoniske tilgang.

Vi vil henover det næste stykke tid jævnligt informere omkring arkitekturen/designet og funktionerne i de forskellige bygninger. Der har bl.a. ligget en stor opgave i at få designet vores produktion så den fortsætter med at lave det produkt vi ved Stauning Whisky er kendt for.

Her i den første præsentation beskriver vi tankerne bag arkitekturen.

Designet af udvidelsen til Stauning Whisky, tager afsæt i de lokale kvaliteter, der i forvejen er i området – et typisk dansk landbrugs landskab og særegen vestjysk natur – som i det fremtidige byggeri vil blive respekteret. Projektet mimer og fortolker saddeltage, gavlmotiver, træbygninger, fiskerhuse og ladebygninger, der er bygningstypologier, der findes i området. Disse forankringer i stedet vil gøre Stauning Whisky til en naturlig tilpasset del af området, og samtidig tydelig på danmarkskortet – og måske endnu vigtigere – på verdenskortet. Men med sine vestjyske rødder bevaret. På sin egen rolige måde, hvor der samtidigt slås ud med armene, og vises Stauning Whiskys dynamiske arkitektur.

Stauning Whisky er et destilleri med tæt tilknytning til landbruget. Råvarerne i whiskyen er lokalt dyrket: korn, vand, malt og tørv. Kornet stammer fra en lokal landmand. Et andet lokalt landbrug aftager ligeledes det forarbejdede korn til foder til sit kvæg.
Det er afgørende for Stauning Whisky at lave en whisky på lokale råvarer. Visionen er at bygge videre på Staunings brug af lokale råvarer, og indpakningen af det nye destilleri, understøtter produktets meget høje kvalitet.

Udformningen at bygningsvolumenerne tilpasses de funktioner, der etableres i de enkelte bygninger, der som tydelige gavle står skulder ved skulder og henvender sig mod Stauning vej, og byder velkommen.

De markante gavle fremstår som helt åbne glaspartier, helt lukkede eller som luftige åbne strukturer med trælister, hvorigennem egetræstønderne ses.  Ideen er at sikre at forbipasserende og gæster udefra kan se flowet i produktionen – fra kornet kommer ind i bygningen, til whiskyen destilleres på pot stills og kommer på tønder. Ligeledes guides de kommende besøgende hos Stauning Whisky gennem produktionen, samtidig med at udsigten til landskabet og de smukke byggematerialer opleves på nært hold.
Der skabes en sammenhæng mellem de gamle produktionsbygninger og det nye destilleri, således det samlede anlæg fremstår som en sammenhæng, dog med tydelig skelnen mellem nyt og gammelt.

De nye produktionsbygninger opføres i et – i området – kendt materiale, brugt på en ny måde. Matte sorte stålplader på både tage og facader – med brændt sort træ partielt på facader sammen med sortmalet raffineret listebeklædning på de fremtrædende gavle og på destilleriets facader og tag. Bygningerne vil fremstå elegante og sorte, og samtidig tilpasset den vestjyske natur og klima.

NEXT RELEASE - THE 13th OF DECEMBER AT 12.00 (CET)

The Traditional is one of Stauning Whisky’s core products. It is our take on a non-smoked Single Malt Whisky – the essence of our malted barley. As with all our products, the Traditional is made in-house on location from 100% floor malted local barley and local water. It’s double distilled in small direct fire copper pot stills. We matured it in First Fill Makers Mark casks for 3 years. This brings flavors of vanilla, burnt toast, caramel, oak and licorice. But we wanted more and the lighter character of the Stauning Traditional benefits from a second maturation. So we selected two fantastic Plantation Rum casks and double matured the whisky for another six months – again First Fill casks. The rum casks add intense aromas of molasses, muscovado, chocolate and dried fruit – and a lot of color from the dark rum. It is a very limited edition of only 831 bottles.
